A fascinating retrospective of attrici italiane (the leading ladies of Italian cinema), covering more than four decades and a range of styles, will unspool from 27 September to 29 November 2007 as part of an extended edition of this year’s Italian Film Festival UK.

 Friday 9 November: Festival Launch at Bafta and Media Lunch at Sofitel St James in the presence of Night Bus director Davide Marengo
 Friday 16 November: Launch of the Festival at Riverside

 Saturday 17 November: Screening of L'Orchestra di Piazza di Vittorio in London's Riverside in the presence of director Agostino Ferrente, conductor Mario Tronco and co-conductor Piccioni.

 Sunday 18 November
: Festival Launch in Edinburgh's Centotre.

 Tuesday 20 November
:Screening of THE LARK FARM in the presence of Paolo Taviani at London's Riverside

with a red London bus during his visit
to the city for the launch of the
festival at the British Academy of
Television Arts (Bafta) in Piccadilly

The event, sponsored by Alitalia as
well as Fiat and Ferrarelle, was attended
by many leading figures from the
consular, film and arts communities
including the Italian Ambassador to
the UK His Excellency Giancarlo Aragona.

Headline hitter

Night Bus director Davide Marengo talked over lunch at
the Sofitel St James with the UK media including
representatives from The Times, Sight and Sound,
and europeanfilm.net during a visit to London for the launch
of the Italian Film Festival UK at the British Academy of Film
and Television Arts.

Marengo will return to the UK to present the film at these
screenings: Edinburgh Filmhouse 25 Nov 8.30pm |
Glasgow Film Theatre 26 Nov 8.20pm.
The film also screens London Riverside 16 Nov 6.45pm |
London Riverside 18 Nov 8.50pm and Dundee
Contemporary Arts Cinema 27 Nov 8.30pm
